Records show a high level of staffing stability with no reliance on contract labor and a nursing turnover rate significantly lower than the Vermont state average.
The data indicates that Gill Odd Fellows Home of Vermont maintains staffing levels and stability metrics that exceed many state benchmarks. Records show a total nursing staff turnover rate of 25.6%, which is significantly lower than the Vermont state average of 59.6%. Furthermore, the facility reported zero percent use of contract or agency staffing, suggesting that all daily care is provided by permanent employees. This zero-contract labor rate is a notable outlier compared to national trends. The facility provides 0.96 hours of registered nurse care per resident per day, exceeding the state average of 0.81 hours. While total nursing care hours have seen an 11% reduction over two years, the current level of 4.09 hours per resident per day remains near the state average.
Inspection records show a downward trend in findings, with 6 health deficiencies in the most recent cycle compared to 12 in the previous period. Of these 6 findings, two were related to complaint investigations. Notable citations involved protocols for reporting suspected abuse and responding to alleged violations. The data also reflects a drop in total care hours on weekends to 3.29 hours per resident per day, a roughly 19% reduction from the weekday average. No financial penalties or fines have been issued by federal regulators during the current reporting cycle. Ownership has remained stable with no administrators leaving the facility in the most recent reporting period.
Zero percent of nursing shifts are filled by contract or agency staff, compared to higher Vermont averages for external labor dependency.
Registered nurse care levels are 0.96 hours per resident per day, which is higher than the Vermont state average of 0.81 hours.
Nursing staff turnover has decreased from 61.5% to 25.6% over the most recent appraisal period, falling below the state average of 59.6%.
This shows how the facility's federal ratings have changed over the past 24 months. Consistent high ratings suggest stable quality, while declining trends may warrant further investigation.

Staffing depth is the strongest predictor of care quality. Facilities routinely cut staff on evenings and weekends — the shifts when falls happen and call lights go unanswered.

"Poor care for awhile as I've been monitoring parents daily care. Left in room alone with no one offering drinks of water for hydration. Poor physical care. 3 falls with injuries unnecessarily. Only a FEW professional LNA'S and nursing staff attending to parent. Stolen items from parents room purchased by family. Would never admit loved ones there. Linda S."
"Clean, excellent care giving, and friendly staff. Visiting is allowed following some screening and masks. I would highly reccomend this facility over others around."

"WAS FORWARDED 3 TIMES AND THEN THEY TRIED TO FORWARD ME A FOURTH TIME. It is like hot potato when I call down there. If someone truly wanted to help I don't think I would have gotten such a run around."
