Staffing depth is the strongest predictor of care quality. Facilities routinely cut staff on evenings and weekends — the shifts when falls happen and call lights go unanswered.

"The facility is nice. The staff are friendly and professional. My low review comes from putting my 94 yr old mother in with a roommate who had an infectious cough. After her five day respite, she's now home achy and coughing."
"My Brother has been in legacy for many years needing around the clock. The nursing and aids have been so friendly kind and caring, even when my brother has been very grumpy and agitated at times. Mahalo to all staff and administrators."
"Beware - it looks like a nice place but don't be fooled. The people who are working there (with the exception of the Dr I had dealings with) were professional and caring if overloaded. The first day I was there, no meds were sent with me from Hilo Beniof Medical Center. I was there for PR from a shattered femur - I was made to wait from arrival (around noon) til 8:10 pm for any meds from the pharmacy. When I arrived the room was nice but there was a chemical smell. A worker came in and said he had sprayed for cockroaches. He then proceede to step on 5 or 6. At 11:40 pm I was awoken by one crawling on my face. Terrified I stayed up the rest of the night, drinking coffee. The next day, the arrogant Dr (who would use his ability to walk) would leave in the middle of my speaking. He tried to cut and make changes to the meds I was taking prior to th shattered femur. I left AMA. My family came and got me. Legacy provided a wheelchair but no human help to get me in the car. Legacy treated me with dispect, would not listen to me and the Dr actually treated me a bit like an addict."
"The staff are absolutely incredible! They all knew me by first name from day one and provided very thorough and professional care during my entire time at the facility. Whether the nurses, aides, physicians, physical therapists, anyone at the facility for that matter were amazing! Thank you all so much for everything that you do!!"
"A review that is NOT by staff; unreliable staff. You'll never see the same worker twice. The majority seem dismissive and uncaring about things. Most don't even know what is going on and it takes multiple tries to find answers to the most basic questions. Very very poor communication. It's depressing here. If you want a place that does the bare, and I mean BARE minimum, this is your stop."
"My Dad is 89 and we tried to take care at home as long as we could..He has dementia and has mobility issues. We had looked into a Place on Kona side and it was very disappointing. After a fall , my Dad was sent to Waimea hospital and then referred to Hilo....We are just thrilled with the care and dedication here at Legacy. It is such a nicer place and the caregivers and Staff are just amazing. Most of all He is happy!"
